Breaking Up With My Mother
Selected for the inaugural season of the Collective-NY’s Short Play Festival and subsequently published in the Collective:10 Play Anthology premiering at the Dramatist Book Shop, Breaking Up with My Mother was presented on the stage at Upper Broadway’s McGinn/Cazale Theater. It the story of a son moving home with his mother following his father’s death. As the two adjust to life after and the walls begin closing in, the son feels as though he’s looking more like his father, begins resenting his mother for and she likewise gets fed-up with him.
The play was directed by Actors Studio member Sayra Player and featured actor/playwright/comedian Dave Hanson. The play also featured life-time Actors Studio member, Susan Aston, actor, teaching, and acting coach for individuals in New York and Los Angeles, perhaps most notably working with James Gandolfini for whom she coached Emmy-, Golden Globe-, SAG- and Tony-award winning performances.
